Our Programs

At Project New Yorkers, we believe education and wellness are powerful tools for building stronger communities and brighter futures. Many women and youths between the ages of 16 and 45 face unique challenges—learning a new language, adapting to new technologies, preparing for citizenship, or managing the pressures of health and everyday life. Our programs are designed with these realities in mind, offering both practical skills and personal support to help individuals thrive.

We understand that success is not only about academics or careers—it’s also about health, confidence, and community connection. That’s why our programs go beyond traditional classes. We combine language learning, computer literacy, and citizenship preparation with workshops that address self-care, mental health, and overall well-being. This holistic approach ensures that every participant not only gains knowledge but also develops resilience, balance, and the confidence to pursue their goals.

Our Basic English program is designed for learners who want to strengthen their everyday communication skills. The curriculum focuses on building a solid foundation in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Students practice everyday vocabulary that they can immediately apply in conversations at home, work, or in the community.

The course also emphasizes listening skills and pronunciation practice, helping participants gain confidence when speaking English in real-life situations. Through role-play conversations, learners can practice common interactions—such as shopping, going to the doctor, or attending school meetings—in a supportive environment. Additionally, the program introduces basic grammar structures, enabling students to form clear, simple sentences and progress to higher levels of English.

Our Computer program introduces participants to the essential digital skills needed in today’s technology-driven world. Students start with an overview of computer components, learning how each part functions and contributes to the whole system. From there, the course builds practical skills such as typing and using the keyboard effectively, which improves both speed and accuracy.

The curriculum also covers Microsoft Word basics, including copy, undo, save, add, and delete functions, which are essential for creating simple documents. Learners are guided in creating resumes, an invaluable skill for job seekers, and introduced to email communications, where they learn how to send, receive, and manage emails professionally.
